Decades ago, I wrote a bunch of lyrics with some rough demos for tunes.  Not inspired by any person or relationship at the time, they were just words that came pouring into my head with no real emotion or energy attached. Then, after two failed attempts, I finally met the person I'd been waiting for all my life.  Turns out, she had been waiting for me too and when we met, it was the most natural and uplifting merging of two energies that I have ever experienced. After 15 almost sublime years together, Cancer sneaked up and took my love from this world.  In the final weeks of a 6-month battle, when it finally sank in that there was no coming back from it, the words and emotions that came flooding into my head were from those songs that I had written so long ago.  They had been sitting around for years as rough demos and handwritten lyrics in a box, with no emotional value.   But those words were suddenly coming to life inside my head and my heart. At first, I was ashamed that I couldn't come up with an original emotion to express how I felt about losing my most valued treasure and that I had to resort to old lyrics to do it.  But the more the words came flooding in, the more I couldn't help but notice that they were a perfect fit to what I was feeling.   In the crushingly emotional and confusing days after her passing, I could only conclude that I had written those songs for my true love four decades before I even knew she existed. Then, one evening, I randomly picked up a guitar and the first song started coming to life.  All of a sudden, the full orchestration and arrangement of 'Just Because' came flooding into my head from out of the blue. Like insects to a light, all the other songs came flying into my head too, all demanding the missing emotion and all clamouring to be heard.   In the middle of this unexpected surge of emotion, it all just became too much and I broke down.  The music said it all and it just kept coming - all those unexpressed emotions erupting at once.  It was almost too much. But that was when I realised I had to produce an album of these songs - the same songs from the distant past, but coloured with new emotions.  And because they had been brought to life by a very special Rose, the album could only have one title.  So I called it: ROSE TINTED.  The contents should explain everything. Before, they were just words on paper and demos on cassette. Now, they were emotionally energised surges of emotion, brought on by the towering loss of my dear, sweet Rose. Through her passing, Rose has made my path ahead quite clear - to become immersed in an album of songs dedicated to the one who brought them to life.  To find and feel the deep emotions that I have been suppressing for most of my life, which only she was able to coax out from behind the otherwise impenetrable wall. Through my Rose, I get to express exactly how I feel about the true love of my life and to do it in the purest form available to me. It's been a while since I produced anything.  Decades, actually.  So I have to tell you that the fear of not doing it justice was almost debilitating.  It's taken more than a year of emotional processing just to get started.   Now that I have, I hope this album rises to the occasion and does justice to the memory of my Rose.
